I wouldn't recommend using this firm. I reported Bill and Tamma to the OCDC and both were sent guidance letters, having to remind them that non-refundable retainers are not recognized in Missouri, except in limited circumstances, even though one was used on me. Furthermore, they charged me more to prevent a charge than other attorneys charge to deal with an actual charge. The region special rep of the OCDC Disciplinary Committee under the Authority of the Missouri Supreme Court told me I got the short end of the stick that he 'felt' for me, that I should have received a majority of my retainer back, and recommended going to small claims court. He also felt that Bill didn't explain the contract well enough to me. Another attorney felt I was overcharged given the little amount of work involved in the case. Unnecessary phone calls were made to prosecution to the point that they questioned why they were calling repeatedly. Unnecessary neighborly chit chat occurred between the firm and myself about topics unrelated to my case, while I was unknowingly being charged for it. I believe they purposely found reasons to run up my bill so that they could justify using up my retainer. Thus, I put in a dispute with my credit card company for a portion of the charge, and submitted a form to the Missouri Bar's Fee Dispute Resolutions program. Bill also sent the police to my home out of retaliation to my OCDC complaint, banning me from his firm's property, and I made the OCDC aware of his cry-baby behavior. He also lied in his rebuttals to my complaints with the Missouri Bar and OCDC, apparently having difficulty distinguishing between fact and fiction in his defense to my complaints or else he'll just lie to protect his firm despite the truth. Hopefully, Bill's as fierce in court as he is with his clients like me, and hopefully he doesn't need a Guidance letter on how to represent you in court like he needed one from the OCDC on non-refundable retainer etiquette.
